Inclusion
Three is creating a safe space for everyone.
Diversity & Inclusion at Three
At Three, we want our people to feel comfortable being their authentic selves at work. We believe that an inclusive culture that’s underpinned by respect is the foundation of a diverse organisation.
Providing this kind of workplace environment for everyone is a journey and a long-term commitment, and it’s one we’re excited to make.
Three is a place for everyone
- We all have the right to be treated with respect. At Three, we’re here for the little connections that make life richer, and we’re working tirelessly to make sure that Three is a safe place for our employees and customers.
- We won’t condone abuse, bullying or harassment of any kind towards anyone.
- Three is a Big Network. It’s a place for everyone. And we love it that way.
Since 2022, we’ve been committed to focusing on 3 key goals.
Build an Inclusive Workplace
Through celebrating diverse events, raising awareness and challenging bias. We were proud to sponsor Reading Pride and Mardi Gla in Glasgow for the first time in 2022 and you can read our Pride promise below. We also have a company-wide zero tolerance policy on discrimination or abuse of any kind.
Achieve Equity in Hiring, pay and progression
We published our Ethnicity Pay gap for the first time in 2022 and have an active Gender Action plan to try to reduce our gender pay gap. We are committed to increasing our gender balance in leadership roles to 50/50 by 2030. We are also working towards becoming an accredited space for a disabled workforce.
Be recognised as a DIB leader
We are proud to have been recognised as Diversity Steering Group of the Year at the FREDIE Awards and to have been included on their 100 best places to work list. We are continuously improving and we want to be a great place to work for all our employees! We’ve also been identified in the Financial Times Diversity Leaders 2023 Special Report.
You can also read more about our focus areas: Gender & Sexual Orientation; Ethnicity and Disability & Neurodiversity on our careers page.
Our Pride Promise
Being a person shouldn't need a policy. Being able to be your true self shouldn't require permission, or a set of principles.
The freedom to be you does require a promise though. A promise from us to do the right thing. A promise to carry on building a more inclusive, a more tolerant, and a more diverse place to work - by listening, leading, and by continuing to do what's right.
We'll continue to create a strong sense of belonging at Three. We'll continue to make Three a workplace where everyone is welcome and where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
We promise to stand side by side with our LGBTQIA+ colleagues. And continue to learn, to improve, and to make sure our people are at the heart of everything we do.
Our People. Our Commitment. Our Pride Promise.
Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Committee
Our award-winning Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Committee is made up of volunteers who represent different functions, locations and grades across our business.
They all play an active role in building, embedding and promoting the Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging action plan across our business. We work with the National Centre of Diversity on our journey to make Three a more engaging and inclusive place to work.
Independent Employee Networks
Supported by our Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Steering Committee, we have a number of independent employee run networks providing support for our people:
Women@Three for everyone who believes in gender diversity, equity and inclusion
Pride@Three provides support, understanding, and information around issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community
Ethnic & Cultural Diversity@Three believe in fostering a culture of inclusivity, equity, and diversity
Accessibility@Three for people with accessibility needs, physical or neuro-diverse, to share their stories and recommendations to help build a more inclusive Three
Parents & Carers@Three provides a space for anyone who has caring responsibilities
ThePause@Three for those going through the perimenopause or menopause
Wellbeing
We support our people and want them to be the best versions of themselves – both in and out of work. We want them to focus on our 4 wellbeing pillars: mental, social, physical and financial.
For our people to thrive, their wellbeing must be a priority. We offer a free subscription to Headspace, and also Nudge to support financial wellbeing. Plus, we have a trained team of colleagues in MHFA across the business to support mental health.
Hybrid Working
At Three, we have a hybrid working arrangement in place as standard for our office-based employees. Employees can work from a mix of office-based locations and from their UK home.
Office-based employees have core work hours between 10am and 4pm, with operating hours between 8am and 6.30pm. This allows people to have a start time between 8am and 10am, and a finish time between 4pm and 6.30pm.
We can also offer more flexibility where possible.
People Development
We know the value of developing our people, and we’re delivering our development initiatives in many new and exciting digital ways. We’re also using insight from our employee surveys and from sponsors across the business, to build a comprehensive development programme that caters to our people on an individual level. We do invest in leaders, but we love to identify and drive the amazing skills of our people. That’s where our new mentoring programme comes in. Plus, we’re continuing to expand our graduate programme and our apprenticeship offerings.
Modern Slavery
We’re fully committed to preventing acts of modern slavery and human trafficking from happening within our business and supply chain. Our modern slavery statement sets out the steps we have taken during the last financial year to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business.
Read our Modern Slavery Statement for the Financial Year Ended 31st December 2022.
Gender pay gap
We are committed to narrowing our gender pay gap. We recognise there’s still work to do, and we’ll continue to concentrate our energy on the things that’ll make the biggest difference and help our employees fulfil their potential.
