To help you get to grips with the latest Samsung phones, here are some key differences. Plus a look at how they compare with the S20 and S10.

What do they look like?

All 3 devices sport a brand-new look, featuring a contour-cut camera housing, and a matte haze finish. There’s a new range of colours too – phantom black, phantom silver, phantom violet, and phantom pink.

When it comes to the display, all 3 phones knock it out of the park. It’s one of the most important parts of the phone, after all. The Dynamic AMOLED display adapts to your surroundings meaning that bright sunlight doesn’t stop you from gaming or watching videos. And the intelligent adaptive refresh rate changes depending on what you’re doing. So, if you’re gaming, it’ll ramp it up to 120HZ, giving you a silky-smooth experience. Just reading? The whole Galaxy S21 5G series is powered by a 5nm processor – the fastest ever in a Galaxy phone. With 20% faster CPU, 35% faster GPU, and 2x faster AI. In fact, the S21 5G range processes graphics and AI faster than any other Galaxy device.

The S21 5G and S21+ 5G have a triple rear camera system – a 12MP ultra wide, 12MP Wide, and 64MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.

With the highest possible resolution on a smartphone, the 108MP wide lens captures an amazing level of detail. And with 100x Space zoom you can find shots you didn’t even know existed.

The S21 Ultra 5G also uses laser focus to help you take macro shots. It works out the distance between the subject and the lens. If it’s within 30cms, it’ll automatically move to macro, letting you take some amazing close-up photos.

Portrait mode

Portrait mode’s had a makeover across all 3 new phones. Using AI, it analyses faces, lighting angles and direction, making sure your portraits are always perfectly lit. In Studio mode, you can change the lighting and use AI to change the background of your shot.

Director's view

While you’re shooting, use Director’s view to see preview thumbnails from each of your cameras. So, you can line up which shot you’re going to go for next.

Single Take

Single Take lets you take photos and shoot video all at once with boomerangs and slow-mo video now included too. It does the hard work for you, using AI to help you get the perfect shot.

8K video

That’s right, you can now shoot video in 8K 24fps – frames per second – the highest resolution in a Galaxy smartphone. And with 8K VideoSnap, you can capture high-quality photos right out of the video too.

Battery and power

Using AI, the S21 range monitors your usage, making your battery more energy efficient. They all support 25W super fast charging, with the S21 Ultra being capable of up to 50% charge in half an hour.
