iPhone 15 vs iPhone 14 – how do they compare? 

It’s that time again. Another generation of iPhone hits the market. This time it’s the much-anticipated iPhone 15 series.

But the question on everyone’s mind? Is it really worth upgrading? Well, as always, it depends on your budget, how often you change models, and what you’re looking for in terms of features. So, to make the decision that bit easier, we’re here to break it down for you. We’ll look at iPhone 15’s brand spanking new features and how they compare to the still brilliant, but now slightly older, iPhone 14.

Here are the main differences at a glance, plus a deeper dive into the features and specs that unite and divide iPhone 15 and iPhone 14 models. 

This is one of the major differences between iPhone 15 and iPhone 14. The new iPhone 15 comes with 48MP main camera with 2X Telephoto vs the 12MP cameras on iPhone 14. Quite a jump.

iPhone 15’s 48MP Main camera shoots in super high resolution. So, it’s easier than ever to take standout photos with amazing detail. The 2x optical-quality Telephoto lets you frame the perfect close-up.

iPhone 15 is available in black, blue, pink, green and yellow. iPhone 14 is available in midnight, starlight, blue, purple and product red. There are plenty of options no matter which model takes your fancy.

There’s not a huge change here. Both devices are fast-charge capable, and both have a video playback of up to 20 hours³. However, if you are planning to upgrade to or buy iPhone 15, the biggest deciding factor when it comes to battery and charging could be the USB-C port on the newer iPhone vs iPhone 14’s USB-C to Lightning cable.

iPhone 15 features a durable colour-infused glass and aluminium design. It’s splash, water and dust resistant. ¹ The Ceramic Shield front is super-tough. And the 6.1” Super Retina XDR display² is up to 2x brighter in the sun compared to iPhone 14. iPhone 14’s screen is not all that different, offering all the same qualities and durability but with a slightly less bright display when viewing in bright sunshine.

There’s no difference in the size of iPhone 15 and iPhone 14. Both have a the 6.1” Super Retina XDR display². There is a slight difference in weight though, with iPhone 15 weighing in at 171g vs iPhone 14 weighing in at 172g.

iPhone 15’s A16 Bionic chip powers advanced computational photography, Voice Isolation for phone calls and smooth performance for graphics-intensive games. All with incredible power efficiency. It’s a step up from iPhone 14’s slightly less powerful, but still very impressive, A15 Bionic chip.

As mentioned above, both iPhones are fast-charge capable. The only difference here is that the newer iPhone 15 comes with a USB-C port while iPhone 14 comes with a USB-C to Lightning cable.

As mentioned above, iPhone 15’s camera and display (especially in bright sunshine) certainly have the edge over iPhone 14.

The update from iPhone 14 to iPhone 15 is certainly pretty significant versus more incremental changes from one model to the next in previous years.

With iPhone 15, Apple has been pretty generous with the upgrades. The new 48MP camera, improved chipset, Dynamic Island, and USB Type C port set iPhone 15 apart from its predecessor, and with a competitive launch price to that of iPhone 14, it’s certainly an option worth considering.
