Keeping or changing your number

When you join us, you can choose to either bring your existing number to Three Business (by providing a PAC), or switch to a Three Business number. Find out how to do this below.

Request a PAC to keep your number

You’ll need to get a PAC from your previous provider.

You can get this free by texting PAC to 65075 from the number you want to keep. You’ll then get a PAC within 60 seconds, and it’ll be valid for 30 days.

If you have multiple numbers with your previous provider, you may need to contact them directly to get your PAC.

Provide us with the PAC to bring your number over

If you have under 10 connections, the easiest way to arrange your switch is to use our online switching form. If you’re switching a larger number of connections, contact us, or your Customer Success Manager if you have one.

You can choose a date up to 30 days in the future to bring your number to Three Business. The quickest your number can be switched is within 1 working day, or 2 working days if it’s after 5pm, or on a weekend or bank holiday.

Activate your SIM before your switching date

We recommend you activate your new SIM prior to your chosen transfer date to make sure it’s working.This should avoid any disruption to your service. We’ll complete the switch on your chosen date. If you need to change this, please contact us no later than 5pm on the working day before, to let us know.

If you have an iPhone, you’ll need to manually update your new number in the device settings after the transfer has completed.

What to expect on the switching date

On the day of the switch, the SIM from your old network will lose signal. When this happens, put your new Three Business SIM into your phone.

If you don’t have a signal, switch your phone off and on every couple of hours until you get one. The switch may take up until midnight to fully complete, and you may experience service split across both SIMs during this period.

Want a new number from Three Business?

If you bought online or in store, you'll be given you new Three Business number straight away. If you bought over the phone, via online chat, or through a Sales Specialist, you'll get your new number within 36 hours.

FAQs

Your number transfer will go ahead on your chosen date, even if you don’t put your new SIM into your device.

You can change or cancel a transfer up until 5pm on the working day before your transfer is due to take place. For example, if your transfer day is a Monday, you can change or cancel the move up until 5pm on the previous Friday.

Please note that this 5pm cut-off is a standard, industry-wide deadline, so we can’t reverse the process after it’s passed.

Your phone has saved a previously used number - perhaps your temporary Three Business number.

1. Select your phone from the list of devices on the Device support page
2. In the list of ‘How to’ guides, choose ‘Settings’
3. Choose ‘Edit your phone number’
4. Follow the steps to update your phone number

You must be connected to the Three network in the UK to complete the transfer. If you’re abroad when the transfer is scheduled, it’ll be delayed until you return to the UK.

Please note: If your PAC expires during this time, you’ll need to get a new one and submit a new switching request.

No, a PAC is only for changing to a different network.
